Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today praised the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) for imparting quality education through digital platforms. Naveen said that the innovative methods of OAVS during COVID-19 crisis is appreciable.

Naveen tweeted:

“As #COVID19 crisis gripped the education sector, #OdishaAdarshaVidyalayas rose to the occasion by making digital the new normal for schools. Established with a vision for quality education, #OAV is today ensuring that learning has no barriers and that, every student is in focus.”

The Chief Minister also shared a video which shows the manner in which teachers and students interact, digital classes and several other aspects of OAVS.

“As per an UNESCO report, around 120 crore children from 124 countries are out of schools. This figure is 62.9 per cent of the total number of school-going children in the world. In India, the situation is equally bad,” said Bijaya Kumar Sahoo, Advisor cum working president, OAVS.

Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya is the brainchild of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who wanted that every deserving child should get quality english-medium CBSE education.

“During the pandemic, the OAVS teachers are working day and night to reach out to the students. We are extensively using Zoom, Google Meet, Whats App and even telephone to make the teaching and learning process continuous,” Sahoo added.

Various resources are being explored and used by the OAVS officials at the organisation’s head office to collect study materials. Teachers have made small setups at their homes to keep the continuity of education.

Sahoo thanked parents, faculty members and staff for not only making teaching and learning continuous, but also helping the Government in fighting against COVID-19. “Our schools are being used as Temporary Medical Centres (TMC) and quarantine centres. All our teachers are engaged in active COVID work,” the OAVS Advisor added.
