Naveen Patnaik Slams BJP Govt Over Rising Crimes Against Women In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of crime against women in Odisha, particularly in Bhubaneswar.

He criticised the BJP government for its failure to ensure a safe environment for women, citing instances of gang rape and other heinous crimes.

Taking to his X handle, Patnaik pointed out that the state capital is becoming increasingly unsafe, with criminals acting with impunity. He urged the government to take strict measures to prevent such incidents and ensure women’s safety.

Patnaik demanded that the government take proactive and strict measures to prevent such incidents, accusing it of incompetence and negligence.

“The incident of gang rape of minors on the chest of Bhubaneswar is an issue that is extremely touching and distressing. Barbarism and anarchy have crossed their limits; the state capital is becoming unsafe. Criminals are fearless, the government is losing credibility. How much more distorted does law and order have to become before the government wakes up?”, read his post.

“The government’s incompetence in preventing crime is instilling fear in the general public. The BJP government’s failure to ensure a safe environment for women in the capital exposes its gross negligence and insensitive conduct. The government must take strict measures to stop women’s safety along with criminal tendencies. Not after the incident occurs, but the government must be proactive in preventing it beforehand”, it further read.
