Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced that he will once again visit Nuapada on November 7 to campaign for the party’s candidate Snehangini Chhuria in the upcoming bypoll.
In a video message, Patnaik extended his warm greetings to the people of Nuapada, saying “Juhar,” and expressed heartfelt gratitude for their overwhelming response and massive participation at the Komna public meeting held on November 3.
Thanking the people for their continued affection and support, Patnaik said he looks forward to meeting them again during his visit to Nuapada and Khariar Road on November 7 to “interact with them and seek their blessings” for the BJD candidate.
Meanwhile, the Congress is also intensifying its campaign in the region. The party has fielded prominent tribal leader Ghasiram Majhi for the bypoll. In a post on X, the Congress announced that Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will campaign for Majhi in Nuapada on the same day, November 7.
The Congress had earlier named Reddy, his deputy Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot among its 40 star campaigners for the Nuapada by-election.
The bypoll in Nuapada was necessitated following the untimely demise of sitting BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia on September 8.
Polling for the Nuapada Assembly by-election will be held on November 11, while campaigning will end on November 9, election officials said.
