Bhubaneswar: A high-level meeting of BJD MLAs has been called at Naveen Nivas at 5 pm today, with party supremo Naveen Patnaik set to chair the meeting.

According to sources, the meeting will discuss the upcoming Rajyasabha elections, with all BJD MLAs instructed to attend. The meeting comes amid intense political activity, with parties announcing their candidates and the BJD’s parliamentary affairs committee discussing potential nominees.

Meanwhile, the party’s senior leaders have indicated that the final decision rests with Naveen Patnaik.

The meeting is expected to finalize the party’s candidate for the Rajyasabha elections, with speculation rife about potential nominees.

It is pertinent to mention that four Rajya Sabha seats from Odisha are falling vacant, sparking a battle among BJD, BJP, and Congress. The Election Commission has announced the schedule: March 5 is the last date for nomination, March 6 is the scrutiny date, and March 9 is the last date for withdrawal. Voting will be held on March 16 from 9 am to 4 pm, followed by counting.
