Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik visited an art exhibition titled “Voyages: The Ancient Maritime Silk Route” at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on Monday.
The exhibition, curated by renowned art curator Jaya Mani, explores the shared artistic and cultural legacy of the coastal regions of South Asia, including Odisha and other maritime states. It seeks to highlight the historical connections fostered through ancient trade routes, particularly those linked to the Maritime Silk Route.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the former Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for the exhibition.
“Visited an art exhibition, ‘Voyages: The Ancient Maritime Silk Route’ at the India Habitat Centre, Delhi. The exhibition curated by noted art curator Jaya Mani draws inspiration from connecting threads of art and culture between coastal regions of South Asia, #Odisha and other coastal states,” he wrote.
Patnaik also extended his gratitude to mural artist Suresh Muthukulam and textile artist Gunjan Jain for their contributions to the exhibit.

“Thank noted mural artist Suresh Muthukulam and textile artist Gunjan Jain for showcasing this fine ensemble which sails through centuries of art, culture and rich handloom traditions to weave history across shores and relive our glorious seafaring heritage,” he added.
The exhibition serves as a reminder of Odisha’s rich maritime past, underscoring the state’s long-standing trade and cultural links with Southeast Asia.
