Naveen Patnaik’s Popularity In Odisha Intact, Survey Reveals 59% Want Him Back As CM

**Bhubaneswar:** A survey conducted by a leading national magazine has revealed that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik continues to hold the strong ground in the State’s political scene with 59 per cent of the respondents wanting him back as the Chief Minister in the next term.

The India Today Axis-My India poll has revealed that 44 per cent of the respondents were satisfied with the performance of the State Government while only 19 per cent showed dissatisfaction.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stood a distant second with 21 per cent backing him.

The political blame-game on Rafale deal that has taken the limelight in the Centre, didn’t seem to bother the Odia population as 76 per cent were not aware about it, showed the poll. Among those who were aware about it, 79 per cent believed that the Centre should not reveal its price in public.

When the respondents were asked to list the problems, drinking water emerged to be the topmost followed by agricultural issues and healthcare.

About 54 per cent of the respondents in Odisha voted for Modi as the next prime minister while 21 per cent supported Rahul.

The poll was based on telephonic interviews across 21 parliamentary constituencies with a sample size of 8,232.

Meanwhile in Jharkhand, 38 per cent respondents supported incumbent Raghubar Das as the next CM while 28 per cent backed senior JMM leader Hemant Soren. The Modi government scored high with 52 per cent of the respondents satisfied with his performance.

And in Bihar, Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish remained the top choice for the next chief minister with 46 per cent supporting him while 28 per cent backed RJD leader and Lalu Prasad’s son Tejashwi Yadav. When asked about their preferred choice for the next prime minister, 58 per cent voted for Narendra Modi, followed by 32 per cent opting for Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi.
