Bhubaneswar: The BJD President and outgoing chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday urged the newly elected party MLAs to serve the people selflessly.
All the MLAs of the BJD today visited Naveen Nivas and met the party chief to express gratitude for giving them an opportunity to serve the people.
Patnaik congratulated everyone on their victory and advised them to continue public service.
He appealed to all MLAs to continue their efforts for the betterment of Odisha.
Patnaik said, 70 percent of the state population was the below poverty line 24 years ago. Today it has come down to 10 percent. This was possible during the BJD rule.
Patnaik advised the legislators to be a part of the people’s sorrows and happiness.
Newly elected MLA Arun Sahoo said that the party will soon form a committee to find out the cause of defeat.
Almost all the MLAs including Pramila Mallick, Arun Sahoo, Byomakesh Ray, Anant Narayan Jena, Badri Patra, Adhiraj Panigrahi, Devi Tripathy, Sanjeev Mallick were present on the occasion.
Notably, the BJD has captured 51 seats while 78 seats went to the BJP account and Congress bagged 14 seats in the just concluded Assembly election.
