Navnirman Krushak Sangathan Activists Arrested On Basis Of Warrant: Police
**Bhubaneswar**: The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday said Akshaya Kumar, State Convenor of Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) and Seshadeba Nanda were arrested on the basis of warrant issued against them.
“Acting on the basis of warrant, we had arrested NKS activists Akshaya Kumar and Seshadeba Nanda yesterday and now they are in judicial custody,” said twin city Police Commissioner Y.B Khurania.
Worth mentioning, the farmers’ body had planned to stage a mass convention in Bhubaneswar on December 14 to raise the issue of farmer rights on land, water and forest and demands a ‘PPP’(price, prestige and pension) for the ryots.
The city cops have made elaborate security arrangement for the huge convention tomorrow (Wednesday) to ensure that nothing unwanted situations occur during the demonstration.
Briefing to the media, the Police Commissioner said around 50 platoons force will be deployed to guard the protesting farmers. “I hope the general public will cooperate us for the smooth functioning of the rally,” the top cop added.
The Navnirman Krushak Sangathan, a farmer wing of the “Navnirman Samiti” has been continuing farmer movements for the last five years demanding price, prestige and pension for farmers besides protection of indigenous people’s rights to land, water, forest and mining.
