Baripada: In a dramatic incident, an Indian navy helicopter made an emergency landing in a paddy field at Amarada under Rasagovindapur in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday.
As per reports, the helicopter, which was on a routine sortie, developed a technical snag and was forced to make an emergency landing in the field at Amardda village.
Farmers were cutting paddy crops in the field when they saw the helicopter hovering over the field to land in the middle of the field. The helicopter was unable to do so due to flying paddy stubble and instead landed in another nearby field. The pilot spent around 30 minutes in repairing the technical snag in the helicopter.
The pilot and other crew members were safe, but the helicopter suffered significant damage.
The incident caused panic among the farmers, who were busy working in the paddy field at the time. However, they were later thrilled to see the naval helicopter up close. After a 45-minute halt, the helicopter took off again, leaving behind a trail of excitement and curiosity among the villagers.
