Bhubaneswar: Security forces have successfully conducted a joint combing operation on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, seizing guns and other Naxal articles from a Maoist camp. The operation was carried out after receiving credible information about the presence of rebels in the Amada forest of Jugad police station in Gariabandh district of Chhattisgarh.

A joint team of Chhattisgarh police’s DRG, Cobra 207 battalion, SAF 211 and 65 battalions, along with SOGs of Nuapada and Nabarangpur police of Odisha, participated in the combing operation. Later, arms and ammunition and Maoist articles were seized from the Naxal camp.

On Friday, a fierce encounter broke out between security forces and Naxals near Jinelguda in Malkangiri on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. The exchange of fire resulted in the death of a Naxal and left a jawan injured.

The incident occurred while security forces were crossing the river from Chhattisgarh to Odisha. Following the encounter, a large quantity of Naxal materials was seized from the spot.
