Nayagarh Family Donates Snakebite Victim’s Organs To Three Persons

Bhubaneswar: After a 49-year-old woman succumbed to a snakebite, her family selflessly gifted her organs to three persons, setting an example of compassion.

According to reports, Kuntala Nanda, a resident of Gaudiapada village under Ranpur block in Nayagarh distric,t was bitten by a venomous snake on August 29. Nanda was initially admitted to the district Headquarters Hospital.

Later, she was shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where she was declared brain dead. Her family members selflessly consented to donate her organs.

On Wednesday, her kidneys and liver were harvested and transplanted into three persons who were struggling with life-threatening conditions.

The selfless act of Kuntala’s family has been widely appreciated, and her sacrifice will live on through the lives of those who have received her organs.

Kuntala’s mortal remains will be brought back to her native village today, Goudiapada, and her last rites will be performed with full state honours.
