Nayagarh: Nayagarh Fast Track POCSO Court today sentenced one Bhikari Jena of Ikiri village under Itamati police station limits of Nayagarh district to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) after convicting him for raping his minor niece.
In addition to that, the court slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on Jena.
The court also sentenced Bhikari’s wife Pramila Jena for abetting her husband in the crime and getting the pregnancy of the victim aborted.
The court further ordered the District Legal Services Authority to pay a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victim.
According to proceedings of the case, the horrific incident occurred at Ikiri village under Itamati police limits in Nayagarh district in 2019. A case in this connection was registered at the Itamati police station following the incident.
