Bhubaneswar: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) room at the SAI International Residential School (SIRS), the #1 co-ed Boarding School of Eastern India was inaugurated by Lt. Col. S.P Otta, Commanding Officer, NCC, Cuttack on Monday.
A total of 25 SAIoneers underwent a rigorous physical test post an interactive session with NCC officials. This will be the first batch of NCC at SIRS.
The NCC helps in nation-building. The NCC provides exposure to the cadets in a wide range of activities, with a distinct emphasis on Social Services, Discipline, and Adventure Training.
Speaking on the occasion Headmaster Amitabh Agnihotri said, “SIRS strives for an all-round excellence, it’s possible through not only academics but also through activities laid down by NCC, we are happy to have an NCC room at SIRS which will enhance the 21st century skills of leadership, problem-solving, empathy, and problem-solving skills.”
The inter-house Kho-Kho championship was also inaugurated on July 11, 2022, by the chief guest, Tukuni Sahu, Minister for Water Resources, Commerce and Transport.
While inaugurating the Kho-kho championship, Sahu highlighted the importance of sports in education and its benefits. She also said that people who get involved in sports have a healthy body and mind along with a lifelong benefit.
SIRS believes in the wellness of the body mind and soul and hence holds events all through the year to achieve their goal.
