In terms of the Rate of Cognizable Crimes, States like Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan have reported higher Crime Rate per lakh of Population. Odisha is placed at No. 12 in the country in terms of Rate of Cognizable Crime (IPC +SLL).
Further going into the important statistics, In Crime Against Women, Odisha has reported lesser numbers in comparison to Maharashtra, UP, West Bengal and Rajasthan.
Further, in Dowry Deaths, Odisha is better placed than MP, UP Bihar, and Rajasthan.
In terms of Abetment to Suicide (Sec 305/306), Odisha numbers are lower than many comparable, smaller, and larger states like HP, Haryana, MP, UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, CG and WB.
In Cruelty by Husband (Sec 498A), Odisha cases are lower than states like Assam, Haryana, MP, UP and other states.
In Kidnapping and Abduction, Odisha numbers are lower than states like Assam, Gujarat, MP, and Haryana.
In Rape and Attempt to Rape number of cases in Odisha are lower than Haryana, MP, UP, Assam and Rajasthan.
Number of Crimes reported against SC & ST are lower in Odisha as compared to states like Bihar, MP, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and UP.
Odisha has reported Zero custodial deaths as compared to two-digit figures reported by Maharashtra and Gujarat.
In cases under NDPS Act, Maharashtra, MP, Haryana, UP, Punjab, TN, Karnataka have reported much higher numbers than Odisha.
