Bhubaneswar: Two days after being announced as the presidential candidate of the BJP-led NDA, Draupadi Murmu left for New Delhi on Thursday. She is likely to file her nomination papers on June 24.
After being greeted by BJP leaders and well-wishers at the MCL Guest House in Bhubaneswar, she flew to Delhi from the Bhubaneswar airport.
The name of Murmu, the former Jharkhand Governor and ex-Odisha Minister was announced by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as its candidate for the upcoming Presidential polls on Tuesday.
Murmu will be contesting against Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha. Consequent to the expiry of the term of President Ram Nath Kovind, an election poll to fill in the office is scheduled to be held on July 18, and the counting of votes will take place on 21 July 21.
