Bhubaneswar: All passengers including the family of four from Bhubaneswar who were onboard the Tara Air flight that met with an accident in Nepal on Sunday are suspected to be dead.
Nepal Army has been carrying out search and rescue operations but no survivors have been found at the crash site. Fourteen bodies were recovered initially from the wreckage of the airplane. Some of the bodies of the passengers are beyond recognition.
The plane, en route from the city of Pokhara to Jomsom, was carrying 19 passengers — four Indians (all from Odisha), 13 Nepalis, two Germans — and three crew members, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
Ashok Tripathy, a resident of Jaydev Vihar area in Bhubaneswar, was on a trip to Nepal with his wife, son, and daughter. A Delhi-based travel agency, which had arranged the family’s trip confirmed it.
The aircraft lost contact with the airport authorities within 12 minutes after it took off at 9.55 a.m. According to Tara Air, the missing aircraft last came in contact with the Jomsom Tower at 10.07 a.m. on Sunday at Ghodepani and then lost contact.
