Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has assured all possible support to the family of the Nepalese student who was found dead in her hostel room yesterday.
Through a letter issued by the Information &Public Relations (I&PR) Department, the Odisha government pledged full support to the bereaved family of Nepali girl student Prisha Shah, who was found dead in her hostel room at KIIT University.
“In this hour of distress, the State Government extends its support to the family of the deceased and offers its condolences to them. On receipt of the information, senior officers including the Commissioner of Police and Revenue Divisional Commissioner rushed to the site to enquire into the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident and take necessary action in the matter. The forensic team is at the spot to collect evidence”, read the release issued by the department.
As per the release, KIIT University authorities received information about the alleged suicide of a first-year B.Tech Computer Science student from Nepal around 8:10 PM. The university promptly notified the student’s parents about the incident.
As per reports, the body of Prisha, who was pursuing B.Tech at KIIT, was found in her hostel room number 111 of campus number 4. The deceased student was reportedly from Birgunj in Nepal. The reason behind her death has not been confirmed yet, and the police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
