**Bhubaneswar:** In continuation of the Hockey World Cup 2018, the State Government held a meeting with the Sports department on Thursday to discuss on the city infrastructure, modernisation and beautification of the capital city before the event starts.
The meeting mainly discussed about the services that have been implemented and the works that has been done till now were discussed along with some new projects that are needed to be implemented and finished before the World Cup that is going to start by November this year.
Some of the services that were discussed included the improvement of the ongoing bus services, free Wi-Fi points in different places of the city, foot over bridges and the underground cabling work that has to be finished prior to the World Cup.
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi informed, “Issues like the ongoing bus services that are needed to be improved in the next 6 months. City Bus services will be implemented, free Wi-Fi points in different places of the city in the next three months will be activated, two foot over bridges will be made near the Kalinga Stadium and underground cabling work from Sishu Bhawan Chowk to Ram Mandir will be done prior to the World Cup”.
BDA Vice-Chairman Dr Krishan Kumar informed, “200 new buses will start plying with new routes throughout the capital city that will touch all areas. Several bus stops will be renovated while some new bus stops will come up. Public toilets for the general public will be revived before the event along with the other beautification of the city that the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is taking care of. Parking facility will be given at the Janta Maidan”.
