Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded 71 new COVID-19 infections on Saturday which is a 400 per cent jump from the number of new cases detected a day earlier (Friday).
According to the information provided by the I&PR Department, 15,685 samples were examined during the last 24 hours out of which 71 samples tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19.
The test positivity rate of Odisha rose from 0.09% to 0.45% in one day. Out of the 71 new cases, as many as 66 are aged below 18 years. Besides, 64 out of the new infections are local transmission cases while 7 persons are in quarantine.
The maximum cases – 64, have been reported from Rayagada district, the figures shared by I&PR Department revealed. At present, there are 160 active cases in Odisha. Total 9,126 persons have succumbed to COVID-19 in the State.
