Bhubaneswar: With an aim to improve the management and coordination of state museums, the State Cabinet has approved the creation of a separate Directorate of Museum and Archaeology in the state.
This decision was made in accordance with the 2nd Heritage Cabinet’s resolution, with the goal of preserving and promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage.
The new Directorate of Museums will oversee the preservation, research, and publicity of the state’s cultural and artistic artifacts. Additionally, a new Curatorial Cadre has been established, which includes positions such as Assistant Curator, Curator/Assistant Director, Deputy Director, Joint Director, and Joint Director-cum-Superintendent. The Directorate of Museum will also have the necessary ministerial and technical posts.
The creation of a separate Directorate of Archaeology has also been approved, which will be responsible for procuring and preserving archaeological elements. This move is expected to boost the state’s efforts in protecting its historical monuments and artifacts.
