Bhubaneswar: A brand new free-to-air Odia news channel titled Nandighosha TV was inaugurated by Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal at Mayfair Convention in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
While the channel vows to create new waves in the field of journalism and promises to be the voice of common people, Governor Lal said that Nandighosha or the chariot of Lord Jagannath doesn't need any push.
Media should be the mouthpiece of the public and its service towards the deprived and discriminated sections of the society reflects its virtue. Nandighosha TV should treat all news equally without falling under any pressure, he added.
After the welcome speech by Nandighosha TV's CEO Jabar Singh Panwar, Editor Sisir Bhattamishra said the channel will not compete with its counterparts and not divert from its path in order to gain TRPs. It will attempt to provide unbiased news to the public without any fear.
The event was attended by various Ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior IAS and IPS officers. Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari asserted that Nandighosha TV will prove to be a strong bridge between the Government and the public.
While Congress Legislative Party leader Narasingha Mishra said that Nandighosha TV will be helpful in strengthening the fourth pillar of democracy, Leader of Opposition Pradipta Kumar Naik advised the channel to work for the people.
