Bhubaneswar: Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra today informed that the new ration cards will be distributed to the beneficiaries in January.
The ongoing e-KYC verification process, which started in July, is expected to wrap up this month. The e-KYC verification identified over 16 lakh ineligible beneficiaries, he added.
The department will create a final list of eligible beneficiaries soon after the verification process is completed. The ration card holders will also start receiving wheat alongside rice under food security schemes from the first week of January
Patra noted that data collection from districts is underway to determine wheat requirements. A tender will be issued to a transportation company for delivery, but the process is taking time due to ongoing e-KYC work.
