Bhubaneswar: As the whole world was busy celebrating the beginning of the New Year, sorrow gripped the families of three persons who were killed in separate road mishaps in Kendrapara and Rayagada districts of Odisha.
A woman and an 8-year-old boy was killed and three others injured after the car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck near Duhuria Chowk in Kendrapara. The deceased has been identified as Pranati Panda and Bijay Sahu.
Reportedly, members of two families from Kendrapara had gone to celebrate New Year at Puri. They were returning home when the mishap occurred. The injured were first rushed to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack and later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Driver of an aluminium tanker was killed and helper injured after the vehicle skidded off road and fell into a 20 ft deep gorge near Gumma village in Rayagada.
