Bhubaneswar: A newborn baby’s death at Anugul District Headquarters Hospital has sparked outrage among the deceased child’s family, who have alleged that the hospital authorities did not provide them with timely information about the baby’s condition.
Liza, the wife of Bapu Gochhayat from Rengali village, gave birth to a baby boy on September 27 at Kaniha Hospital. Due to the baby’s poor health, doctors advised shifting him to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) at District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment.
The baby was initially kept in bed number 16 but was later shifted to bed number 12 due to his deteriorating condition. Unfortunately, the baby died shortly after being shifted to bed number 12.
The family has raised questions about the hospital’s decision to shift the baby without informing them. “Why was the baby shifted from bed 16 to bed 12? Why weren’t we informed about the shift?” they asked.
Moreover, the family has alleged that the baby who died was not their child which worsened the situation at the hospital. However, the situation was brought under control after police intervention.
No official response has been received from the hospital authorities or the police regarding the incident.
