Bhadrak: While a newly married woman was found hanging in her house at Rathapada under Basudevpur police limits on Wednesday night, her family members have alleged it to be a murder for dowry.
The deceased woman has been identified as Manasi Mohanty, wife of Birupakshya Das Behera of Rathapada village.
According to reports, Manasi had eloped with Birupakshya a year back and the couple was staying in Kolkata. Two months back their wedding was solemnized at Rathapada village with much fanfare.
On Wednesday night Manasi was found hanging inside her room. After rescuing her family members took her to Basudevpur Community Health Centre (CHC). However, she was pronounced dead by the doctors at the CHC.
On being informed about Manasi’s death, her family members reached at the CHC today morning. While Manasi’s mother has alleged that her daughter has been murdered for dowry, her husband Birupakshya has pleaded ignorance on the reason behind the death as he was staying in Kolkata.
Basudevpur police have launched an investigation into the matter.
