Bhubaneswar: A newlywed woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in her in-laws’ house at Ganesh Vihar area under Gunpur police limits, on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Rashmi Ranjani, daughter of Kunja Bihari Badakumar of Parlakhemundi.

The incident occurred just eight months after her marriage to constable Debashish Majhi, a resident of Chandrapur village in Rayagada district.

According to reports, Rashmiranjanee’s father, Kunjabihari Badakumari, has filed a complaint with the Gunupur police, alleging that his daughter was subjected to dowry harassment by her in-laws. He claimed that Rashmi was working as a postal employee and was well-settled in her career.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter and have sent the body to the Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the reason.

A scientific team from Rayagada is expected to arrive soon to assist in the investigation.
