Malkangiri: A newlywed woman allegedly committed suicide on Saturday night in MV 35 village under Kalimela police limits here. The deceased was identified as Babita who was married to one Bijay Saha of MV 19 village, seven months back.
According to Babita’s father Manoranjan Haldar, she was being tortured by her in-laws and was murdered in the process. However, Bijay’s father Jugal Saha has dismissed the allegations and said that his family was not being treated well by his daughter-in-law and it was a case of suicide.
Kalimela police have sent the body for autopsy and registered a case of unnatural death. Further investigation is in progress, the police said.
