NH South Circle Superintending Engineer To Probe Ganjam Bus Mishap

Berhampur: Hours after a bus skidded off the road near Taptapani Ghati in Ganjam district on Wednesday, the Superintending Engineer of National Highway South Circle in Berhampur has been instructed to conduct a probe to find out if the accident has been caused due to any engineering defect.

Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange informed that the Superintending Engineer will submit the probe report within one or two days following which a re-inspection of the Ghati will be conducted and efforts will be initiated to rectify whatever is needed on engineering point of view.

The report submitted by the Superintending Engineer and team will be handed over to the District Road Safety Committee and necessary improvements will be made accordingly, said Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar Rai.

Around 19 persons are presently undergoing treatment at the MKCG Medical College & Hospital in Berhampur, including 11 admitted in the Orthopaedic section. Total eight persons, including two male and six females, have been killed in the mishap.
