Bhubaneswar: The National Health Mission (NHM) has taken swift action to combat the diarrhoea situation in Jajpur district by deploying additional medical specialists and mobile health teams.
Under the direction of Mission Director Dr. Brenda D., 8 medical specialists and 20 mobile health teams have been deployed in affected hospitals and areas.
To further intensify the efforts, 45 mobile health camps have been organised in the affected areas, and 40 mobile health teams are currently working in the district. The teams have been directed to coordinate with the District Medical and Public Health Officers and work according to the requirements of the affected areas.
Awareness programs have also been stepped up, including awareness messages through microphones at ward levels, provision of special information on diarrhoea on health walls, installation of ORS and Zinc corners in healthcare centers, dissemination of precautionary messages in special meetings of Rural Welfare Committees and regular purification of drinking water sources.
NHM has also deployed 10 Mobile Awareness Vans (IEC Vans) to spread awareness, and special camps are being organised in tribal-dominated areas to facilitate health services and increase awareness. The medical team has emphasised the need for effective disease surveys and early detection programmes.
