“Since the announcement on Thursday about night curfew, we have observed heavy rush in the markets, people are into panic buying. I would request all the residents of Bhubaneswar no to go for panic buying,” appealed Chaudhary in a video message today.
The BMC Commissioner assured the public that as per government orders the civic body is taking all measures and action to ensure supply of essentials and movement of goods so that people do not face any problem.
“The objective of night curfew is slow down the progress of infections but if we resort to panic buying and overcrowd markets, then we won’t get the full benefit of night curfew,” Chaudhary cautioned.
He requested people to go for online buying, avail home delivery services which will be allowed and desist from unnecessary overcrowding of markets.
While further appealing to people to cooperate to succeed in achieving the objective night curfew, the BMC Commissioner said that medical services and taxi services to and fro railway station and airport will be allowed during night curfew.
