Bhubaneswar: The subsidized meal at Rs 5 will be available at night at two Aahaar centres at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for patients and attendants from today onwards.
BMC Mayor Sulochana Das inaugurated the subsidized meal system today. Around 400 meals will be prepared daily at these centres.
Five such centres are providing meal twice daily at near major hospitals. Out of them, two centers near AIIMS-Bhubaneswar are preparing 750 meals a day.
The night meal system has been started in these two centers today. The patients who come to hospitals from in and outside the State can benefit.
The affordable and healthy food provided by the Odisha government has become very helpful for poor patients and attendants, consumers said.
At present, total 11 Aahaar centres are running in BMC area. Three of these had provided night meals.
About 9,000 meals were prepared daily in these food centers. Now, 400 meals will be prepared daily at these two centers. As a result, the number of daily meals reached between 9,000 and 10,000.
