Bhubaneswar: The night temperature dropped below 15°C in at least 10 places in Odisha on Sunday, heralding the arrival of winter. However, though we are in the third week of November, apart from south interior Odisha, the weather remains warm in many areas of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that mercury will decrease by 2°C to 3°C in the next 3 days.
G Udayagiri was the coldest place in Odisha on Sunday recording 7.8°C, followed by Phulbani at 11°C. Moderate fog also occurred in Phulbani.
The capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded 16°C, while the minimum temperature in Cuttack was 16.5°C.
The night temperature was 12°C in Daringabadi, 13°C in Angul and Bhavanipatna, 13.1°C in Rourkela, 13.3°C in Jharsuguda, 14°C in Sundargarh and Bhadrak, 14.6°C in Keonjhar, and 14.9°C in Dhenkanal. Angul recorded a minimum night temperature of 4.5°C below normal on Sunday.
Now, with the onset of winter, evenings are becoming colder. The weather department has said that there is no chance of rain in the state for the next 7 days and the weather will remain dry.
