Bhubaneswar: People in several parts of the state woke up to a blanket of dense fog on Monday while experiencing a chilly weather. Visibility in several areas was reduced to 50 meters disrupting vehicular traffic and normal life.
According to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, while dense fog engulfed Phulbani, Dhenkanal, and Angul districts, visibility was reduced to between 50 and 200 meters in many places in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Temperatures also remained much below normal with Bhubaneswar recording a minimum temperature of 14.5°C and Cuttack registering 14°C.
G Udayagiri continued to be the coldest place in Odisha for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday at 5°C, slightly up from 4.6 degree Celsius recorded the previous day.
Meanwhile, the weather office has predicted that the minimum temperature may increase gradually by 2°C-3°C from Monday night. It added that the weather will remain dry during the next three days though moderate to dense fog is likely Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Kalahandi and Keonjhar districts.
