Bhubaneswar: Winter is finally around the corner in Odisha as the night temperature dropped below 8°C in several parts of the state on Saturday night, the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar informed on Sunday.
According to the weather office, G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recorded lowest temperature of the season at 7.8°C, followed by Phulbani and Daringbadi also in Kandhamal district at 11°C and 12°C respectively.
In addition, moderate fog occurred at one or two places in this district.
The minimum temperature also dropped below 15°C in a number of other places in Odisha, including Similiguda in Koraput district (12.1°C), Rourkela (13.1°C), Jharsuguda (13.3°C), Chiplima in Sonepur district (13.8°C), Sundargarh and Bhadrak at 14°C each, Kierei also in Sundargarh district (14.3°C), Keonjhar (14.6°C) and Dhenkanal (14.9°C).
The minimum temperature recorded in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 16°C (-3) and 16.5°C (-1.4) respectively.
The IMD has predicted further dip in the night temperature during the next few days, while other conditions are likely to remain unchanged.
