Bhubaneswar: Intense cold nights are likely to return to Odisha from today as the night/minimum temperature is predicted to drop by 3°C-5°C under the influence of cold and dry air flowing into the state from north. Many places in the state are likely to record night temperatures below 10°C in the first week of the New Year, the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The minimum temperatures are likely to drop across many places in Odisha and Phulbani is expected to shiver on Wednesday night. Koraput and Dhenkanal will also witness chills at 11°C to 12°C.
Rourkela, Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack are all predicted to reel at around 14°C while the night temperature in Angul may drop to 13°C. Puri is expected to see experience 16°C while the minimum temperature in Bhadrak and Balasore is likely to be 13°C and 15°C respectively.
The temperature will fall in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, and Mayurbhanj from Wednesday night winter chill will set in most of the districts of coastal Odisha. The dry weather will continue in the state for the next seven days.
The IMD has alerted of dense in several parts of the state reducing visibility significantly. Yellow alert has been issued for dense fog in four districts in the next 24 hours.
