Bhubaneswar: The night/minimum temperature is likely to increase by 2°C – 3°C from January 23 under the influence of a potential low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. As a result the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere will increase and dense fog will occur in several parts of the state.
According to the weather office, winter chill will gradually decrease across Odisha owing to western disturbances in the north-western part of the country. However, moderate to dense fog will occur in several parts of the state during this period.
Currently, most parts of the state are experiencing severe cold. On Sunday night, the mercury in 9 cities was below 10°C. Udayagiri was the coldest place in the state recording 4°C, followed by Similguda (4.9°C), Phulbani (7°C), Rourkela (7.2°C), Jharsuguda (7.7°C), Daringbadi (9°C), Kirei (9.3°C), Chipilima (9.8°C), Bhawanipatna (9.9°C), Sundargarh (10.2°C), Keonjhar (10.6°C), Bolangir and Koraput (11°C), Sonepur (11.6°C), Hirakud (11.7°C) and Rayagada (12.2°C).
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has predicted clear sky in Bhubaneswar and neighbourhood during the next 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 29°C and 13°C, respectively.
