Bhubaneswar: Koraput was the coldest place in Odisha recording a minimum temperature (nighttime temperature) of 9°C, while the mercury showed an upward trend in the remaining areas of the state during the last 24 hours.
According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, the minimum temperatures rose in most places across Odisha, and in a few places, it was above normal.
Sambalpur recorded a minimum temperature of 18.4°C, Bhawanipatna (16.8°C), Hirakud (16.8°C), Sundargarh (15.5°C), Phulbani (14°C), Chandbali (19.4°C), Balasore (18.3°C), Cuttack (18.5°C) and Bhubaneswar (19.2°C).
However, the weather office has forecast a 2°C-3°C drop in minimum temperature after two days. As a result, some places in Odisha are likely to experience bitter cold once again this season.
At the same time, several places in the state experienced shallow to dense fog on Thursday morning reducing visibility significantly. Shallow and moderate was observed in Rourkela, Phulbani, Goplapur, Paradip, Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda, Bhawanipatna, Sambalpur, and Keonjhar.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning of dense fog in one or two places in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Khurda, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Balangir, Rayagada and Koraput on Friday morning.
