Bhubaneswar: Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Kumar Nayak, who resigned from BJP two days ago, joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today at Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

Nayak returned to the BJD fold with hundreds of supporters during a Mishran Parb at party headquarters in Bhubaneswar. Senior leader Pratap Deb, MP Sasmit Patra and others were present during the programme.

The two-time Nilagiri legislator had tendered his resignation to State BJP president Manmohan Samal on Friday.

Sukanta Nayak had been elected to State Assembly in 2024 on BJD ticket. In 2019, he was also again elected from Nilagiri in Balasore district on BJP ticket in 2019.
