Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, Balichandrapur police on Thursday arrested nine persons allegedly involved in a series of transformer thefts across various parts of Jajpur district.
According to reports, multiple cases of transformer theft were reported in recent days from several police station jurisdictions within the district.
Acting on a tip-off earlier today, Balichandrapur police successfully intercepted and apprehended a gang that was allegedly planning another theft.
During the raid, police recovered various parts of stolen transformers, along with equipment used in the commission of the crimes. A car used by the accused was also seized.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested persons hail from different districts across the state and are involved in multiple criminal cases registered at various police stations.
Police have launched a deeper investigation to identify other members of the gang and to uncover the full extent of the racket.
