Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today formally inaugurated nine new galleries at the Odisha State Museum. These include the Pre-historic Gallery, Royal and Ivory Gallery, Zoological Gallery, Mining and Geology Gallery, Puppet Gallery, Mask Gallery, Tribes Gallery, Handicrafts Gallery, and Identification Room.

During his visit, the Chief Minister also explored the Ramayana exhibition room and underground artefacts exhibition in the newly constructed Talachitra at the State Museum. Highlighting the significance of the museum, Majhi emphasized that it is a testament to Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, showcasing the state’s history, geography, mineral resources, art, culture, architecture, and diversity.

The newly inaugurated galleries offer a treasure trove of information and artefacts. The Mining and Geology Gallery provides insights into Odisha’s mineral resources, while the Zoology Gallery beautifully displays the state’s forest resources, lakes, animals, and birds. Visitors can also scan a QR code in the Zoology Gallery to access more information.

Other notable galleries include the Puppet Gallery, which showcases an array of necklaces, and the Tribes Gallery, which offers a glimpse into the lifestyle, festivals, and rich history of Odisha’s tribal communities. The Handicrafts Gallery is another highlight, featuring Odisha’s handicrafts and textiles in an exquisite manner.

The event also saw the launch of four books, with notable attendees including Culture Minister Suryabansi Suraj, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, and Principal Secretary of Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department Sanjeev Mishra.
