Khurda: Revenue Inspector (RI) of Khurda Nirakarpur Prashant Sarangi died after being hit by a truck near Bada Pokharia on Monday night.
Sarangi was returning to his Nachuni-based home on his motorcycle after election training duty when the truck hit him from the rear.
He was rushed to Khurda District Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition. However, he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
He will be cremated at Puri Swargadwar today.
Sarangi has recently been promoted to assistant tehsildar. That apart, Sarangi has carved a niche as a stage artiste and director. His unexpected death has created shockwaves in the locality.
