Puri: Since the National Monuments Authority (NMA) Heritage Draft Bylaws of the Union Culture Ministry has fixed February 18 as the timeline for submitting suggestions, all the concerned stakeholders are being consulted in this important matter.
This was informed today by Puri Collector Samarth Verma while talking to media.
In his media reactions, Verma said, “The draft bylaws, that have been published, are being examined at the State Government, district administration, Puri-Konark Development Authority and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) levels. After being examined and those views collected, I could better comment on it.”
Responding to media query, he remarked, “As the time limit has been given February 18, we are holding discussions with all the stakeholders, even the temple servitors on the matter.”
Sources also said that an urgent meeting was held here yesterday here attended chaired by SJTA chief administrator Krishan Kumar, Collector himself, Puri SP, Puri-Konark Development Authority and other officials.
Notably, the Centre’s Heritage Draft By-Laws prohibit any construction activity in the 100 metre periphery of Sri Jagannath Temple (Srimandir) and eight other structures of immense archaeological value when the Odisha Government has already undertaken lots of development and beautification activities on the world-renowned Sri Mandir which is being reportedly highly appreciated by one and all globally.
