Bhubaneswar: Another medical college in Odisha has received the approval of the National Medical Commission (NMC) for 50 MBBS seats for the 2024-25 academic year.
The Medical Assessment And Rating Board (MARB) under the NMC has approved admission of students for 50 MBBS seats for the new Government Medical College and Hospital, Jajpur for from the 2024-25 academic session.
The approval was accorded acting upon an application regarding the establishment of a medical college and hospital in Jajpur under the Orissa University of Health Sciences, Bhubaneswar, seeking 100 MBBS seats for the academic year 2024-25.
The letter of permission (LoP) has been issued by the NMC.
“… In view of the above and attached scrutiny form, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has decided to Approve the application and issue Letter Of Permission u/s 28(3) of the NMC Act, 2019 for the academic year 2024-25 subject to verification of Bank Guarantee. Approved For 50 Seats subject to Verification of Bank Guarantee,” read the letter posted on X by the Health & Family Welfare Department.

This is the 12th government MCH in the state and the first to be operational this year.
With this, the total number of government medical colleges in the state has gone up to 12 and the number of seats to 1,600, sources said.
Constructed at a cost of around Rs 400 crore at Ankula on the outskirts of Jajpur, the MCH has been named Jajati Keshari Medical College and Hospital.
