Bhubaneswar: A motorcyclist was killed on Jamujhadi – Basudevpur road after ramming into a pit along an under-construction bridge on Monday morning.
The deceased identified as Bipin Behera was a native of Basathi village under Basudevpur police limits. He had gone to meet his father who is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
While returning home. Behera fell into the trench and collided straight with the concrete walls of the bridge. He died on the spot.
Locals staged an agitation blaming the contractor for the mishap. Had there been a warning ahead of the bridge signalling a diversion, the accident could have been avoided, they said.
Basudevpur police rushed to spot and dispersed the crowd. A case has been registered in this connection and body of the deceased sent for autopsy.
