Nabarangpur: Students of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya in Raighar block here walked a distance of four kilometres from their school to the office of the District Education Officer (DEO) demanding the appointment of a Chemistry teacher.
The students sat on a dharna for hours before the DEO sought time for 10 days to appoint the Chemistry teacher, following which the dharna was called off. According to the School Principal Sussin Dakhiri, the students agreed to the solution and have returned back to the school.
According to the students of Std XII, there are only 4 months left for their Board exams but the absence of a Chemistry teacher will lead to loss of syllabus. “How will we study if there is no tacher. Our chemistry teacher has been transferred and after that there is no one to teach us the subject,” the students said.
