**Bhubaneswar: ** Amid the speculation about a cyclone hitting Odisha’s coastline, Sarat Chandra Sahu, Director, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar on Wednesday said Odisha the weather conditions can be forecasted only after the 9th of this month.
He said that the intensification of cyclonic storm brewing over Bay of Bengal is not very rapid. So the weather will be normal till the 10th. But after 11th December Odisha may experience light to moderate rainfall may occur in south and coastal Odisha”
He further explained, “The Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal moved Northwards with a speed of about 10 KMPH till this morning but there after it stayed practically stationary about 1210 km South-southeast of Gopalpur. It is likely to move North-Westwards and intensify into deep depression in the next 24hrs and can further intensify into cyclonic storm.”
Since last two days temperature have started to fall in the night due to northerly and north-easterly dry cold wind from Himalayan.
Further drop in temperature may be expected. Currently lowest temperature in plain area is recorded at 7 degrees at Phulbani and 6degrees in Daringbadi Hill Station and Angul at 8.8 degree Celsius.
