Bhubaneswar: Odisha Minister Suresh Pujari strongly hit back, saying that the opposition’s call for a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led state government will ultimately backfire. He believes the government is confident of its performance and ready to face the challenge, but the opposition should do their homework before bringing such a motion.
Reacting to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Das’ appeal to bring a no-confidence motion in the Assembly, Pujari said the government was confident of its performance and ready to face the challenge. “The Opposition has every right to move a no-confidence motion, but they should do their homework before doing so,” he maintained.
Pujari challenged the Congress and BJD to present a report card of their 40 years of governance, saying the people would then be able to judge the difference between the two regimes. “Let them come with their track record, and we’ll present our one-year performance. The people will be the judge,” he said.
Pujari also questioned the Opposition’s preparedness, saying they would need to frame questions to challenge the government’s response. “They can’t just hear the answer,” he said, adding that the motion would prove to be a boomerang for the Opposition.
Pujari’s remarks came a day after Bhakta Das invited the BJD to move a no-confidence motion, claiming that if they were genuinely fighting for women’s justice, they should bring the motion and Congress would extend full support.
