Puri: Covid double dose vaccination certificate will be no longer mandatory for devotees to enter Shree Jagannath Temple from the 21st of this month.
The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the Chhatisa Nijog (apex body of temple servitor bodies) chaired by Chief Administrator Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Krishan Kumar.
Kumar said that the relaxation was made in view of the majority of citizens having been vaccinated against Covid-19 and the drop in infections.
He, however, advised that devotees coming to the temple should invariably be vaccinated with the double dose for their own safety and the safety of others.
Kumar said that the use of sanitizer and masks will be mandatory and the temple will remain closed on Sunday for devotees as usual.
The SJTA Chief Administrator said that the temple will remain closed for the public during President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit to the temple on February 19 from 4 PM to 6 PM.
