Bhubaneswar: There is no respite from heat till the next three days, informed the Regional Meteorological Department today. While 14 stations have recorded temperature more than 40 degree Celsius on Saturday, Titlagarh recorded the highest temperature in the State with mercury soaring to 45.
“Heat wave like situation is currently prevailing in interior Odisha like Bargarh, Bolangir and nearby districts,” said meteorologist Sashi Kanta. Nabarangpur, Boudh and Sonepur will also reel under intense heat.
In Bhubaneswar and nearby areas, temperature was above normal by two degrees. Capital city will probably record 40 degree Celsius today, he added. “For next 2-3 days, hot weather situation will prevail and then the temperature is expected to come down,” Sashi Kanta concluded.
From May 2 onwards, impact of Cyclone Fani will also be seen in the State. Light to moderate rainfall at few places is very likely over south coastal Odisha on 2nd May. Heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places over Koraput, Rayagada, Gajpati & Ganjam districts of Odisha on the same day. It is likely to increase in intensity with heavy rainfall over coastal Odisha from 3rd May.
