Bhubaneswar: Odisha is currently not facing any flood threat as all major rivers are flowing below the danger mark, said Engineer-in-Chief of the Water Resources Department Chandra Sekhar Padhi on Sunday.
Addressing the media, Padhi informed that water levels across the state are under control and there is no reason for public concern at this time.
“At around 9 am, approximately 2.28 lakh cusecs of water entered the Hirakud reservoir. Meanwhile, about 1.32 lakh cusecs were discharged through six sluice gates, powerhouses, and canals,” he said.
Providing updates on other key reservoirs, Padhi noted that the Rengali reservoir received an inflow of 855 cumecs, while 703 cumecs were released. The water level stood at 123.41 meters, just below its maximum capacity of 123.5 meters.
At Hirakud, the water level was recorded at 628.62 feet this morning, compared to its full reservoir level of 630 feet.
The Engineer-in-Chief emphasised that the department is continuously monitoring the situation and is fully prepared to manage any potential changes.
